Insecticide Granules

Does anyone add any type of granules to their soil as a preventive measure
against SVB and other insects?  If so, what would you recommend and when do
you add it (fall or spring)?  I was considering using Triazicide, but the
label just mentions lawn use, not gardens.  I was also wondering what it would
do to the earthworms?
