Kathie, I had a very wide pumpkin and it was only about an inch on both sides of fitting into the trailer I had.  I took measurements using a regular tape measurer and it proved to be fairly accurate.  One thing I noticed is that some guys throw a couple pallets in the back of their pick-up truck beds so that the pallet to be removed is sitting above the wheel wells. Terefore, gaining more width in the pick-up bed.  

It sounds like you know of a big pumpkin out there. Maybe a pick-up truck won't be big enough.  You can call Ice Road Truckers and see if you can get one of their rigs and drivers to come help out!:)Russ
