I am a bit confused about what kind of split disqualifies a pumpkin. If a
split does not go all the way to the seed cavity, is it still legal?
I am thinking about my own (which I didn't bother to enter). The stem is
split and the pumpkin itself, though it might not go to the seed cavity. I
don't know because I have covered the cracks up with duct tape and pruning
paint. But what if I removed the paint and tape, and discovered that the
split was "superficial"? What precisely is the ruling on this?
I suspect the pumpkin may be ok, because it split on Aug 27 at around 100
lbs, and now weighs about 450, with a total of 284 inches. Could it have
survived 5 5 weeks and grown 350 lbs if the split were catastrophic?
And what are the regulations about the stem? Can it be split?
I would appreciate some feedback.
Thanks,
Stephen
And good luck to everyone.
