The national giant pumpkin weigh-off competition, organized by the Yugoslav Gourd Lovers Society, was held on 4th October 1997 in the town of Kikinda
It was part of the general program of the 12th Pumpkin Days having followed the propositions of the World Pumpkin Confederation.
The lovely sunny weather and the large number of participants made the event successful.
The results were rather modest as expected, due to unfavorable climatic conditions.
