"SPECIAL THANKS-1997 World Record

Hi Everyone,

I just received a phone call from Mr. Howard Dill advising me that my 977
lb. pumpkin weighed in yesterday at the Mayfair site in Dixon California is
an official "1997 World Record" and will be ranked 4th heaviest pumpkin
ever grown in the World.

I would just like to take a moment of everyone's' time to pay a special
thank you to all of you in the e-mail group who have provided help,
support, information and direction. We have a great group of people here
and I could not have done this without your guidance!

Also, very special thanks to Mr. Dan Gardner for proving this e-mail group
and his web page through which all of this support was made possible.
Granny Pat (Ken & Pat Sneath) of Rolla British Columbia Canada for gifting
me their one and only Greer 1006 seed which grew my 977lber. and all of the
California Pumpkins Growers who have assisted with advise!!! 

Thank you Bill Greer for the seed you gave me last year at the Nut Tree
when we met, I will certainly be planting your seed again next year! Your a
very kind and generous man!

While I have grown prizewinners over the past few years with a personal
best of 69lbs. last year, this was my first attempt at growing an Atlantic
Giant Pumpkin! My pumpkin totaled 374.5 Inches or 1007 lbs., so we weighed
in 30 lbs. lite, needless to say I am not disappointed. 

My condolences to Sherry LaRue for the loss of her 1016lber, Mr. Craig Weir
almost 1,100 lbs., Mr. Don Black. at approximately 1018lbs. and to everyone
else who has lost pumpkins this year

What a year!
