What should be done to help next years crop?

     Hi people.  My patch is gone and the pumpkins are in location for 
Halloween.  What should I do now to my growing soil?  Should I mix in a 
bunch of manure now or wait?  Should I get a soil test now or wait?  
Should I just let the ground sit fallow or should I grow some type of 
cover crop.  I'm sure you all get the idea.  I will take any 
information you can all supply me with.
