Pumpkin Mailing List email postings are all saved.....HERE

Yes, every posting which has the address of pumpkins@athenet.net is
saved to a homepage for everyone in the world to read. I review all the
pumpkin mailing list postings every morning to see what has been said
without having my personal e-mail box being filled with individual
pumpkin e-mail postings.

Mallorn Computing has provide an archive program which stores garden
mailing list e-mail postings for everyone to review. The purpose of this
is to save the postings for people in the future to see what we did in
1997 to grow large pumpkins and other garden related issues.

So if you lost a e-mail posting and you wonder where it is, look in the
archive. If you are trying to find out that persons e-mail address look
it within the archive.

Here is an example for you to try. Lets say you would like to read all
the postings on KIRK MOMBERT. Hi Kirk... All you need to do is go to
this URL by selecting this link now or typing it in the location bar on
your browser.
http://www.mallorn.com/lists/pumpkins/search.cgi

Now when I typed in Kirk Mombert in the window for this page and then
selected "Search Now", I get 13 hits. It might be 14 after this
posting.
Now can you see how great this is. What do you want to read. See those
blue lines, select one and read an old posting. This is the Pumpkins
mailing list search engine.

If you removed /pumpkins/search.cgi from the URL you will be able to see
all the garden mailing list which are archived and support this type of
search engine. If you would like to see what type of results you would
get for all the garden mailing list, type in tomato in this url and see
what happens. Look at all the mailing list that provide a response.

So what is this archive stuff....lets say all you want to do is see the
Oct97 pumpkin mailing list postings. To do this, all you need to do is
type in this url or select it to see the archive of Octobers pumpkin
mailing list postings. This process is true for every month..
http://www.mallorn.com/lists/pumpkins/oct97
Now that this page is up and running, you will see it is organized by
tread. This means in theory, each subject should be listed together in a
waterfall effect. If you look above you will see three active links.
Author, Date and Subject.....if you would like to see Octobers mail
organized via these categories, select one and see what happens.

Give it a try everyone and see what the web has to provide. This is how
you can become more familiar in using the web by understand how pages
work and what can be provided.
