I would be interested in hearing some opinions from others on the relative values of compost versus composted manure. I was checking around for a local source of bulk composted manure and spoke with the operator of a local composting company. Our city started a municipal composting program this year which has been very well received and the local operator has a LOT of composting underway. He has composted manure available but felt that the "regular" compost (I'm not sure what else to call it) was a better product than composted manure. The regular stuff will not be available until spring so for the time being I will get a few yards of composted manure to put in the garden now and get some of the regular stuff in the spring. I mentioned to him that the pumpkin growers I had spoken to had all suggested composted manure and his opinion was that if they had experience and easy access to regular compost that it would be the preferred product instead. Any thoughts from the list? Bill Kournikakis Medicine Hat, Alberta
