The rules for disqualifying a pumpkin from a weighoff have to be kept simple. An opening into the seed cavity is as simple as you can get. I am a site coordinator here in Altoona and it was heartbreaking this year to have to make a pumpkin "display only" as it had a very small hole to the inside. The grower was a really old guy and I felt very bad for him. But there have to be rules and this hole rule is very simple and straight forward. It is interesting to me that two growers had to tell the judges about the "holes" in their pumpkins thereby disqualifying themselves. I congratulate both of them on their extreme honesty as they had already gotten by the judges. I know everyone here is that honest but are all growers in the world? Marv in Altoona PA
