Are cucurbits really triploid? If so which gamete donates
the diploid chromosomes? I would guess that a mutation in
the diploid donor would have a higher probability of causing
any sort of changes since 2/3rd of the chromosomes would
presumably be subjected to the mutagen. In essence, 2/3rds
of the folks coming to the party would be smashed and would
outvote the dry contingent.
