You already answered it! .... -->  "360 pound pumpkin this year and got quite

It gets a reaction out of people! Also, it is just human nature to see how far
human's can push nature. It gives you a feeling of real acomplishment,
something that no one has ever been able to do before, (in the case of the guy
with the 1092 this year)!
Why PUMPKINS? Well, because EVERYONE is always fascinated by them. They are
symbolic of fall and of course Halloween. I'm sure anyone would also be
fascinated to grow a 10 pound tomato, too. But there is something more special
about pumpkins because of the symbolism, and mainly the sheer SIZE. No other
vegetable, fruit, or anything else gets as big. It is the BIGGEST fruit that
human beings can grow on the planet earth!
