Since it still hasn't gotten cold here yet (temps at night still are in the
60's), my late blooming pumpkins are still growing. Can the plant "die of
old age?" I'm asking this because some of the leaves are starting to dry out
faster than usual. Also, some of the vines aren't getting longer.
Furthermore, any female pumpkin/flowers that start to grow dry up when they
reach peanut size and no flower blooms. This plant started to grow in July.
Should I just cut the ends on this plant and call it quits (after the
pumpkins reach full term - currently the size )?
Speaking of cutting ends,
1) How far from the fruit should they be cut?
2) Should they be buried, taped, or tied shut?
3) If a vine is longer than 15 feet and there's no female flowers, should
I cut it?
Many thanks,
Josh
