I remove the seeds snd related material from pumpkin, then I remove seeds
from fleshy parts. At this step I start culling seeds. All the white flat
young seeds are left with the fleshy stuff. I then put seeds into fresh
water and gently scrub off remaing flesh. Rinse several times this way.
After the seeds are clean I spread them on cookie tins 1or2 layers deep.
Put the tins on a less than 80 degree heat source. I use the cool end of a
florescent light fixture over the kitchen sink. I stir them several times
a day to start. As they dry look for empty ones. If in doubt open up the
questionable ones, see whats happening. This gives you a visual reference
for removing others. The flat ones can be gently squeezed, side to side
and will feel empty if they are. If you like to eat the seeds. eat the
smallest ones. Leave the big ones for next years plants. When this is
done you should have close to 100% germination next year. After you are
sure they are dry, store them in cool and dark area. I use ziplocks for
different pumpkins and place these in a plastic jar with tight lid. If you
want to be sure, relative humidity should be less than 20%-30% inside
ziplock. Have fun, roger
