This worlds largest thing is crap....

Every paper I open around the NY/PA area here has a picture of Bill
Bobier and his Big Kahuna.. the winner from the WPC in Clarence at 986
pounds.. While I marvel at this accomplishment, I am amazed , once
again, at the WPC, the media, and the naiveness of the general public on
who had the "Worlds Largest". The papers read that Bill Bobiers pumpkin
was the Worlds largest in 99, and expressed his displeasure for not
reaching the 1000 pound mark, something that it taped over... For that,
I feel bad too.. We all want our pumpkins to register what the tapes
say.. Then the article goes on to say that he would have liked to topple
the "world record" of 1061 pounds, something set by the Zehrs in 1996 at
the Waterman Festival.. Why does the media fail to recognize the GPC and
thier accomplishments around these parts.. I have a good idea.. If you
go to check out Ray's site, he still claims that the Zehr pumpkin is the
World Record also..
    While the world fails to realize that the  WPC (1061)Zehr pumpkin,
officially is now 3rd  to the GPC pumpkins of Gary Burke (1092) and
Gerry Checkon (1131), we in this mailing list know better.. I guess we
need to become media friendly with the GPC, and learn how to manipulate
them to get the GPC recognized.. The Bobier pumpkin was a beautiful
site, but worlds largest? It barely made the top five for 1999,
Claiming  4th behind 3 GPC pumpkins, ONe a Pennslvania Giant Pumpkin
Growers Association Member, and 2 Ottawa St Lawrence members..
    Lets get the story straight, please..
