Hello: I'm just a lurker on this list; we haven't enough full sun any
time of year to even grow ordinary tomatoes, much less giant pumpkins.
But we now have about half an acre of day lilies, over 300 varieties, and
I'm considering demolishing the house to make way for more. Somehow I
subscribed to the list, and have stayed with delight because I am so
impressed by the general cheerfulness and kindness of the members. My
only prior experience with news lists has been with autism (autism is a
serious developmental disability), and this pumpkin growers' list is so
very pleasant compared with the desperation, bitterness, and anger often
displayed on autism lists. So maybe I was waiting for the post from Rocky
yesterday....aha, I thought, these folks are human after all! But really,
except for the expletive in the subject title, the posts have been
relatively mild. Not cheery, but mild. Mostly. Now I see why, after
Duncan's post today about the one day limit on bashing the media. (The
host on the autism list I am most familiar with is the most angry,
bitter, opinionated person on the whole list!)
So I write to commend Duncan, and all of you, for displaying such a good
example of how people should be treating each other. Hope no one minds if
I keep lurking (though I guess I am "out" now). Your posts make me feel
good about the way the world is going....Not to mention that I just
changed the wallpaper on my computer to a picture of Duncan MacAlpine's
June perennial garden.....Just in time to prepare for the winter doldrums
here in North Carolina.
