With two world records in as many years, I'd have to say that the 935 Lloyd is
my choice for the best seed in the world at this time. I am interested to hear
how others did with the 815 Checkon, though, since it produced that
1190? Womper. No doubt the 968 Sproule is looking good too, now that it
produced the 1036.5, and as with last year, the 946.5 is hard to argue against.
Maybe some of you could help me out as I try to figure out which seeds did the
best in 1999 so that I can waste hundreds of hours this winter dreaming,
scavanging, scheming and trading.
I need to know which seeds produced all of the big pumpkins this year, and
although I could just wait until the Ottowa guys publish the results, I just can't
wait (heck, I've already spent four days fidgetting with no more pumpkins in the
patch. I hardly know what to do with myself.)
So . . . if you know which seeds grew the following pumpkins (as well as the
male pollinators), why don't you post the results so we can all start dreaming:
Pumpkin Female Male
1131 Checkon 935 Lloyd ?
1036.5 Kline 968 Sproule ?
1009.5 Eaton ? ?
986.4 Bobier ? ?
981.5 Gervais ? ?
947.5 Patrick ? ?
946.5 Haegens ? ?
908.5 Eaton ? ?
875 Dill ? ?
837 Thorson ? ?
Others? I also curious about big pumpkins (other 800+ grown by relatively
inexperienced growers, too, since you wonder if maybe they could have been
even bigger
