Scott,

I grew one on blue-board (hard styrofoam insulation)
this year and the bottom was nice and flat.  It still had
ribs on the bottom, but it was not concave at all.  Three
other ones that I let grow ont the topsoil all had concave
bottoms.  I will post again when I cut it open and let you
know how thick the walls on the bottom were.

The styrofoam also kept the bottom dry and clean.
I am going to grow all of mine on it next year.
