Re: Seeds for next year?

I think it is wondeful every-one is already talking about next
year....the enthusiasm in this hobby is unmatched....by any other so it
seems. I am most happy and proud that the Pumpkin record is held now by
a Woman..!!! this has to be a first...The Pumpkin Queen....She Has given
me a domino bragging right for a whole year ....I can use against my
hubby ....lol.... We are fun loving competive growers here in our
club....in Merlin ,Ont.....only 4 females growing against 16
males......and I don't don't have to tell you about the battle of the
sexes that is happening here...lol.....All in Fun though....Thanks QUEEN
GERRY....YOU GO GIRL....you make us proud....!!!!!.Here in Canada......
Deborah.

Already you guys are talking about the seeds for 2000! Incredible. I haven't
even cleaned out my garden or nearly gotten over celebrating the success of
the new pumpkin queen, Gerry Checkon and you guys are turning to philosophy.
This could be a very long winter.

I feel the biggest mistake I made this year was pulling out the 815 Checkon.
The vine was going the wrong direction, so I thought, and I pulled it. Wrong.
I was looking at a secondary vine. The main vine had wandered to another area
and was huge.

Meanwhile my LLoyd 935 did nothing. My friend's 935 developed a main vine
which ended up being very very wide and going nowhere as was the experience
of quite a few others, My vote goes to the Checkon 815 which produced a
pumpkin in the same garden as Gerry's 1131 which would have possibly topped
1200 pounds had it stayed whole. Meanwhile I am still smiling when I think of
Gerry and her new world record.
