<< What about the Stelts 801.5 '97. It produced the 846 Calai (new Ohio
record), 739.5 Lanterman and 739 Moss and the Parks 816 last year. It
basically dominated the Canfield weighoff. Not to mention how almost
perfectly these pumpkins were shaped. By the way if anyone happens to have
a extra 801.5 they would like to trade email me privately. I have a pretty
good seed library from the last few years and maybe we could work out a
 trade.

That was one I was watching this year as well.

The 801 Stelts also grew the 947.2 Mark Patrick, 2nd place in Altoona. A
beautiful deep orange pumpkin. Mark also had a second pumpkin over 700 pounds
on the same plant. Pretty good for a first year grower. I saw the plant when
Brett and the rest of the growers from the West Coast visited PA while in
for the Ohio Valley picnic. At that time the 2nd pumpkin measured 61in Circ.
at 12 days.

Due to Gerry's 1131lb monster, Mark hasn't gotten much press but his pumpkin
was 60 pounds over the previous PA State record set by Tony Ciliberto's 887
weighed at Altoona in 1996.

I almost grew the 801 this year, but opted for a 697 Ciliberto. I think I
made a mistake on that one.

I believe he self pollinated because he only grew one plant but am not
positive about that. He lives near several other growers who may have
provided pollinators. I will be checking that out and will update when I can.

I have a scanned photo of the 947.2 at our weighoff. Anyone who would like I
will send IF you request to mhicks4939@aol.com
