moving fruit story!!!

List,
Everyone seems to have a moving story. So here is mine.
We were taking a fruit to a local middle school to be showed for
about 3 weeks. It weighed about 440 to 460. (ok quit smerking out there.
Yes this was a while ago when Beth and I actually grew fruit!!!) Now
the plan was to have the football team help move the fruit into the
school. We showed up and the coach and 2 rather large 8th graders with
him.The coach was one of the big stud macho types. big into the
weighs!! Now you see we have a home made sling thatI use to move our
fruits. It has sleaves in the end to slide 2X4's in to give the person
something to hold on to. The fruit was slid all the way to the cab and
you could only get about 6" of stud through before the board hit the
cab. The weigh you have to pick up is directly in proportion to how much
board you have. The shorter, the harder to lift. You know the leverage
thing!! Well the big stud coach and the kid on the ground had no trouble
lifting but poor me and the other kid were lifting our guts out!! We
were serverely "short boarded".When we got to the ground with it I
suggested we measure the door and see if it fits. while the 2 who
weren't winded went a measured I showed the other kid on my end a quick
lesson on the power of "leverage".When they came back they informed us
that it would have to be carried to the back of the school where the
double doors were. I suggested back to the truck but the 2 who weren't
short boarded said "awww!! It ain't that heavy lets carry it around." It
was only about 150 yards or so. We had only made it about 50 yards when
I noticed a distint amount of sweat showing up on the big studs bald
head!!! Boy was he a puffing by the time we made it to the back door!! I
on the other hand was just as fresh as could be. The boy on the opposite
board who also had the long end was grinning ear to ear!! He came up to
me after words and thanked me for the little lesson on "leverage" .
