Paul, you are SO wrong.
Letterman knew that the PUMPKIN was the reason people were staying tuned,
that is why he "teased" it every other minute! That is also why it was left
for the LAST part of the show.
What probably happened, unfortunately, is that time ran short again (they
once again cut that "Harmony" dude (thank God! that kid is a freak), for the
SECOND night in a row. I have a feeling more time was planned for the pumpkin
but they ran way short on time again. Ialso wonder what Larry meant when he
kept sayng they were taping on Thursday?! Last night's show certainly was
same-day taped as usual. Maybe they did a pre-taped bit that will air next
week? I dion't know.
Another thing that could have happened is that Gerry and Larry for some
reason didn't want to appear on the show at the last minute, (the producers
did have time to hire those supposed "guards" to stand there, however). We
will just have to wait to hear word from the Checkon's to find out the full
story.
Also it would be unusual for Letterman to be the only show that would try to
have them on when the others get wind that they are in NYC. So depending how
long they are there, other NY based shows could have them on, like the Sunday
Today show tomorrow morning, etc. If they are there for a few more days, then
R&KL would probably want them, and all the rest.
