As a few of you know, I've had yet another season cut
short. I had to pick my two best ones a week ago. Final weights were
414# and 315#. As disappointed as I was to have an end to the season this
early, it is worse not even beating last year's best. Anyone who wants can
have seeds from them, just send the self addresseds stamped bubble pack
deal. (email me privately for the address) Here's the info:
414 Wolf 00 UOW (116-83.5-79.5) Tall, nice shape, but
very white. Began to rot from infecteted blossom end crack. Grown
from 1009.5 Eaton, open pollinated and self pollinated. Pol. 7/10, Main
vine.
315 Wolf 00 UOW (112.5-68-68.5) Light orange color, grown on a
secondary vine. Was slowing down, so I picked it when I did the 414. Pol.
6/29. Had just over 700 seeds in it. Will probably be growing this
one next year, like the cross. Grown from my 445 from last year, and
crossed with the 792 Armstrong. My 445 was an 806 Baird (1006 x self),
self pollinated. The 792 Armstrong was from a 1092 and
selfed.
They both weighed light, most likely because I weighed them a
week after I picked them. They rode around in the back of my truck for a
while to show off. If you want to see the pictures, my webpage is at:
http://home.eznet.net/~farm i just
threw most of the pics on the 2000 update page, i'll fix it up when I have time
to.
