Welcome aboard.
You are definitely taking the right approach to your soil situation by using
raised beds and lots of compost, no matter what you grow.
Growing giant pumpkins will be nearly impossible on a 4' by 8' spot,
however. Most of the folks on this list will recommend at least 20' by 20'
(and up to 40' by 40' if you have the room). There are many instances of
growers using less space (such as 12' by 12'), but I don't think it is
possible to grow on 4' by 8' unless you let the vines run well into your
yard.
Regarding seeds, I think you will find a great deal of generosity among the
people on this list, and I will be the first to offer seeds to you if you
want to email me privately.
