re: CRACKING UP????????
matt,
your cracking is normal. the skin just has a hard
time keeping up the rest of the pumpkin- so it
cracks and splits... then it will scar over...
this is called canteloping or netting. usually it
helps pumpkins weigh heavy.
if it happens to early in the season then it
can be a problem. that is why growers put up something
to shape their pumpkins, early sun exposure increases
netting.
but if it is just starting now,
then you are fine.
Congrats - on a fine 1st year !

Here I go again, I've sent several questions in to the
list this year as it is my first year growing giant
pumpkins and I really appreciate all the help i've
received and now I have another problem
I have several pumpkins est around 275 to 300 with
100 to 108 circumference measurements and
the larger ones are starting to get little tiny
cracks all over them with a watery looking substance
seeping from the cracks and forming little pimple
looking puss pockets all around them
any idea why and what I can do to help stop the
seeping
thanks again Matt
