Pumpkin Life?

I have 2 pumpkins still on the vine that I am trying to nurse along till
Halloween. One has stopped growing and the other is still inching on little
by little.My questions are : How long will the pumpkin survive on the vine
after it stops growing? And..... How long will it last after it is cut from
the vine if I don't carve it?
