Some experts think that green  skin can be a response to lower light
conditions. The sun is lower and less intense in the fall, the stem and
blossom ends are a bit more shaded since the sun is not overhead anymore (and
the weeds are knee high).Perhaps if you shaded more thoroughly you wouldn't
have had the problem with the orange ones......................G
