Hey
everyone,
Just wanted to say
thanks for all the advice on how to slow down the pumpkin. There was alot
of ideas out there but I decided to take the advice of Joel Holland since he is
a vet at this kind of stuff. The pumpkin is on the main vine about 12'
with about 12' more vine behind it. So what I did was to cut all vine
growth from the pumpkin out, cutting the plant in about half. What that
did is actually slow the growth of the pumpkin down to 8lbs. a day instead of
16lbs. a day. I am glad I did this because of two reasons. One is
because we just got 1.5 inches of rain dumped on us. The other reason is
because the weak spot on the pumpkin seemed to firm up quit a bit now.
Hopefully it holds to weighoff now. Yesterday, the pumpkin had a
circumference of 174 inches with a OTT of 361". If anyone is interested in
seeing a picture of it when it was 862lbs, please email me privately with your
email address and I will send you a picture of it. Thanks again for the
advice.
