Greetings all from the
mighty state of Oregon where we all stand ready to see just how far up
someones ass we can stick a 1000 pound pumpkin when it is figured out who is
responsible for killing so many Americans. I noticed on the list that
not much has been said about the tragedy, but hey, it happened and it is a
great thing to see the various people come together and prepare to do what is
necessary to assist in the complete and utter destruction of those
responsible.
Anyway, on a more pumpkiny note, here is the Oregon
update.
900 Lyons plant was removed last week. It produced a 623
and a 637. Both fruit were nice orange color. One had its stem rot
off, and the other self destructed in 6 different splits. Not bad, but I
like top see fruit on a scale at the end of the season, not in September.
800 Edwards East plant produced a nice 583.5 pound pumpkin that went
down to a blossom end split over a month ago. It is gone as well from
the patch.
800 Edwards West plant threw my only squash and it is far
from a monster at around 500 lbs. est.
986 Hester plant has two fruit
it. Like a dork, I left two fruit on a tiny flag plant. I thought
I had removed one near the center of the plant and left it alone.
Concentrating on the nice fruit on the main vine, I didn't look at the
one inside until I noticed it poking up above the leaf canopy. Both are
beautiful orange fruit instead of the green I was going for.

Corkum plant has a nice fruit on it. ;-)
730 Stellpflug is kinda
dissappointing me. Big beautiful plant, but the two fruit haven't grown
in a month. Two est 600 pounders on it.
1026 Holland plant is
worth having. 1200?
611 Hester plant has a canoe on it.
Rolling hard, really hard setting its sight on 4 digits.

Stelts plant is going to have to duplicate what it did for me in 1999.
The big one went down and weighed 18% heavy, the young one was
pollinated on july 23rd. Absolutely ripping at 20# a day.

Calai plant of Lisas has a beautiful young fruit or two on it. I have
her beat though.
968 Hester plant took 4th at Puyallup with a 700.5
pounder. only 90 leaves on that plant and the other fruit will top 500
pounds.
969 LaRue plant is a splitter. Heavy for size, but weak
stems.
723 Bobier. We shall see. A late set, slow
plant, but,.... But....
940 Mombert is growing a hedgehog. a big
hedgehog.
780 Eaton split in the blossom 3 weeks ago, but it is
plugged and up to around 700 pounds now. Still growing.

Geerts of Lisas has what could be called an upsetter. Her smaller fruit
weighed super heavy for its size. This one tapes out a 500 and is really
growing.
The 850 Hester, 935 Lloyd and the 815 Checkon, had an
off year.
