Re: Lifting pumpkins

Brian,
I used one for the first time this week, worked great. I wasn't paying
enough attention at the weighoff last year but this is what I did.
Anybody that thinks I did something wrong please let me know! ) I put the
hoop on top of the pumpkin and opened the strap that went around the bottom
of the pumpkin all the way up.Next I spread the vertical straps evenly
around the pumpkin. Next I tied a knot in the strap that goes around the
bottom of the pumpkin and through the vertical straps. Then you just lift
the lifter with a block and tackle with tripod or I guess you could use
heavy equipment. My cousin easily lifted my 619 by himself with a chain
hoist.
Heres where I almost goofed, that pumpkin was going to the Bloomsburg
fair, they don't have a lifter and I almost forgot to lay the tarp under the
pumpkin on the truck . I think it took us a total of 20 minutes to build
the tripod and load the pumpkin.
in unrelated news, I plan to use this big tripod to grow morning glorys
on in the spring and summer next year. Anyway hope this helps.
Not sure what to do about the wheel well situation, I think you have to be
careful not to get the center of gravity too high for the pumpkin.
