Has your pumpkind died? Read to smile

Everyone:

My pumpkin patch has not been producing the way I would like for the last two years.  (I won't go into details to explain why, but I will keep trying.)

Last week my largest pumpkin, which measured 378 lb., went down.  I'm not certain, for sure, of the cause of death may or may not be the curiosity of 10 year old neighborhood boys who I let play in my field, without reminding them of the proper care of my pumpkins.  They were searching the patch for snakes, and I have a soft for boys on a mission of exploration.

Anyway I'm down to one mature pumpkin, only about 300 lb., and I am not impressed.

I'm making supper this evening and my husband calls me to the front window.  Two people who walk through my neighborhood on a regular basis, but I don't know I just wave and smile, are at the end of our driveway taking a picture of my pumpkin patch!  We've had a light frost so the pumpkins are very visible, even if I think they're unimpressive, other people certainly do!

So take heart, I bet most of us have the biggest pumpkins in the neighborhood, if not our whole towns, even if we don't have a personal best.
