Sorry
to hear Steve. Good luck with
your second string!
This
actually brings about a good question.
If someone notices a split developing in his or her fruit, couldn’t
they immediately take it and weigh it before the split reaches the inner
cavity? I have not had any
experience with splits before, so I don’t know how quickly they develop. (I’ve never grown one big enough to
split.) I guess the question
begs, do you want an official record, or are you willing to let it grow out
for the largest un-official weight you can get from
it?

New Minnesota record goes kaput!
Woulda,Coulda,Shoulda been a new
Minnesota state record had my Eaton 974 (selfed)not developed a small
split in blossom end 4 days ago that opened to 6" this morning. Did
final measurements this AM of Cir.-168
S.S.-100.5
O.T-98
Total
of 366.5" OTT. est. 949 lbs
Took to
certified scale 2 hours ago and it came in at 963 pounds, so was 14
pounds over the chart . Was still getting almost 10 pounds/day with
several weeks left. Sure is depressing. Thanks A.E. for the seeds. I still
have your 780 going and it to looks good. Steve Thorson
