I strongly disagree. As long as the pumpkin is
weighed properly, is in good shape and credibly witnessed, the date and location
of the weighing is irrelevant. I am personally dedicated to promoting the
sport of giant pumpkin growing rather than promoting sanctioned weighoffs. This
is the very reason I made my ' EXH, DQ, UOW, EST' post.
A grower should not be penalized or his achievement made less significant just
because he either does not have organized weighoffs in his area or has chosen to
weigh his pumpkin through a channel other than an organized weighoff event.
The location of the scale has nothing to do with the pumpkin it weighs or
the effort it took to get it there.
