COME JOIN THE FUN!!! 

 
The Pacific Northwest Giant Pumpkin Growers cordially
invites all pumpkin growers to our official Great
Pumpkin Commonwealth Weigh-Off at “The Pumpkin Patch
and Corn Maize” at Sauvies Island, Portland, Oregon.
Everyone is welcome, whether or not you have a pumpkin
to enter. Come on out and meet the two current World
Record Holders, and a former record holder for the
largest pumpkin and squash ever grown!!

Geneva Emmons, of Sammamish, Washington will defend
her title for the largest pumpkin ever. Her 2001
pumpkin entry weighed in at 1,262 pounds. 

Kirk Mombert, of Harrisburg, Oregon will defend his
2001 World Record of 1,064 pounds in the squash
category. 

Growers will be competing for over $22,000.00 in total
prize money, including the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth
(G.P.C.) awards. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st
through 35th place for pumpkins, 1st through 3rd for
squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, and tomatoes. The
G.P.C. is also awarding ribbons for long gourds. In
addition, 5-$100.00 cash prizes will be awarded at
random to registered participants.

We may have the largest crowd ever to watch a Giant
Pumpkin Contest in the Pacific Northwest. 3,000 to
5,000 excited festival goers are expected to visit The
Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maize on Saturday, October 5th.
Free admission for all spectators.

The Pumpkin Patch has been a family tradition for over
30 years. In addition to participating in the Giant
Pumpkin Weigh-Off you are invited to come and relax in
the grassy picnic areas-enjoy a delicious lunch in a
serene atmosphere and visit the ‘Patio Café’,
Giftshop, Produce Market, Corn and Hay Maize.

The Pumpkin Patch is located on Sauvie’s Island, just
15 minutes northwest of Portland, Oregon. From
Portland, take Highway 30 West towards Scappoose to
the Sauvie’s Island Bridge. After crossing the bridge,
circle to the left and loop back under the bridge,
following Gillihan Road to the farm. Head straight 2
miles until you see The Pumpkin Patch signs.
