Re: Pumpkin went down

Sorry to hear about the fruit Deb...... I have to chime in after reading
your story, as I just returned from my patch and had an experience.
Walking down, I saw a mole running for cover, and where did he go? Under
my first of two twins on my Eaton 780! Well, they hadnt grown a bit in 2
weeks, both going about 225 or so (side by side, actually touching).
Well, I was a bit ticked at the little guy, so I started shoveling,
trying to dig him out from under the fruit.
Nothing came out, so I decided to cut the fruit from the vine (this
fruit was only a front lawn jobby) and I rolled the pumpkin - and out he
ran.... to where you ask?> Under the other fruit... DANG! I checked the
bottom of the fruit I was holding... no damage.. WHEW!... So I went to
work to get the second fruit off the vine to try and get the little
fella before he did damage to my only midsized fruit I have for ALtoona
(APP 400 pounds or so)... I cut it off the vine, rolled her over, and
what was there ? The mole with his guts hanging out... The weight of the
fruit when Irolled it over crushed his little body..
Luckily, it was probably his first day or two of inhabitance in my
patch, and tonite was his last...
