Just to update everyone on my damaged fruit, i think it may be ok. i'll be keeping a close eye on it thou.  bleached, powdered and being kept dry.  i may still have to play with it if it isn't looking so good.

thanks to everyone that sent me advise on the issue, and also tips for when i re-do my web site.  it's all appreciated.  Not sure what my dad will say about fans on the pumpkin and the electric bill when he gets back from vacation...
 
the good news is that it hasn't stopped increasing in size yet, it has put on another 2" ott in 2 days since the damage was done.  I just hope it keeps it up and heals up nicely.... if it does, i am thinking i will need to hire a crane!
 
this morning a film crew from the local tv station knocked at my door and wanted to film the damage...  i guess the guy at the paper must have told them about it.
