Brad and Crew,

Believe it or not this has happened before here in California.  Years back a pumpkin that also was a state record contender was  weighed and as it was removed from the scale sprung a good leak.  3 days later the pumpkin had collapsed.   The sponsor of the event had paid top dollar to own this pumpkin and display it for their event now had a pile.  From the view here  I think you folks made a good compromise and a good call.  It really doesn’t matter folks will form their own opinion.  That particular pumpkin was our sate record back then.  But when ever anyone spoke of it many just rolled their eyes.  Fortunately time moves on and bigger pumpkins will come along.

No one wants these predicaments and would rather not  have to deal with the stress.
