A Question About Gourds
Hi Everyone,
I know this question is slightly off topic, but I just know that someone here
will know the answer.
This is my first year raising pumpkins and gourds as well. Recent rains 18
days in row have ruined my pumpkins, but I learned lessons which will hopefully
help me for next year.
On the other hand, my basket gourd plants have done very well and they
continue to grow in size with most much larger than a basketball.
My question is this: how do I know when the gourds should be picked and
should I pick them first by cutting the stems or let the stems just die and fall
away?
Secondly, how do I dry these gourds so they can be used for birdhouses or
baskets?
Any advice, assistance and help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jim Flynt
