You know I love ya !!
I love playing Devils advocate. here is the deal. We have to make three
categories. We also have to persuade the organizers to set them all apart. "Its not
a Beauty contest" just doesn't fit anymore unless we just think of them all
as how much they weigh. it would be simple if we did not see color and we just
weighed them as to there weight and THAT IS IT !! but we live in a world that
color matters and some want true green and some want true orange and some want
just heavy. what ever we think we have to convince the people who matter that
if we are going to see color there has to be separate categories I still
shoot for
1.Orange Pumpkin
2. Squash
3. Unlimited Class.
Once we can establish this there is somewhere everyone can weigh in a fruit.
think of it this way if a weigh off said a pumpkin had to be 70% orange,white,
Salmon,Cream ETC. And for squash there was a rule for 70% Green what happens
to the nice family who used store bought seeds and Honestly grew there best
fruit, Drove 400 miles and it ended up being 51% Green and 49% orange. and were
not allowed to weigh it in because they "DID SOMETHING WRONG" they didn't fit
into OUR template.. there has to be a dividing line that allows ALL of us to
weigh in our pumpkins no matter if we use the Hottest seed or store bought
seeds, I still enjoy watching small kids weigh in there Pepo pumpkins at the weigh
offs !!! Fun is what it is all about.. Lets have Fun !!!! Take care !!!
