RE: Question about harvesting and storing?

Thanks Mike, That's what it is... I'll take a snap next time I'm down there.
(It's on an allotment plot I rent from the town council)

Andy
Welcome to the insane world of Growing Giant Pumpkins, it's great to see
another UK Grower joining the online Giant Pumpkin World. Now for that Vine

Split problem. If it is just the Vine running past the actual Stem of the
Pumpkin
that has split open then there is very little to worry about and it will
still keep putting a few Pounds on, unless it has stopped growing already
of
course. If you want to Email a picture of the split area to me at
_MTu4639875@aol.com_ (M*@aol.com) i will give you some more
info if it's
necessary.

Mike (AKA Pumpkin Mike On BigPumpkins.com)

Im a complete newbie pumpkin grower here in the UK, and as a first go I
have produced a Dills Atlantic Giant that I estimate to be around 180
lbs,

This is pretty big by local standards, so I have offered it to a local
village church for their Harvest Festival service.

The date in question is in 3 weeks time, but today I noticed the vine has
a
massive split, just where it joins the actual stalk proper.

As no more growth is likely, can I just leave it as it is for 3 weeks?...
Should I cut if off completely?...Will it be OK left sitting outside, as I
need help to move it and dont really

want to have to organise the whole thing twice over. ( We are just entering
autumn here but its till quite warm with little risk of frost)

Any advice would be great!

Thanks
