Re: Pumpkin Boat help wanted

Todd,
Thank you enormously (or 650-pounds-plus)!
This may be the year I finally take a ride.

OK, Kathie I don't have a blueprint but I can give you a bit of
information.....first you need a 650 lb pumpkin, AND some ballast usually we use sand as this can be added in small amounts. (don't forget the battery,
seat(milk crate) and sailor when testing for floatation) empty out the
pumpkin and using a plywood circle shaped almost like a toilet seat with a
2X4 on edge screwed to the top near the back bolt this to the top of the
pumpkin with long bolts and big washers. The walls have been thick enough not to need a piece of wood on the inside. Mount your motor to the 2x4 and
sun the battery cables to the battery (under the milk crate) and go for a
ride!

Kirk,
Thanks. I've seen plenty of pictures, but nothing about how to construct the
actual boat. Something like a blueprint would help.
Got one?
Thanks again!

I think the people in the south east US are the ones you need to talk to,
check out some of the club sites as they have pictures just can't recall
which ones.

Where can I find instructions for turning my pumpkin into a boat?

How large a pumpkin will I need?

Don't the guys with long pumpkins have the advantage over those of us
with
beautiful round pumpkins? In other words, how do experienced boaters
steer
their vessels?

How do I mount an electric motor on my pumpkin?
