In Don Langevin's "How-to-Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins" he noted that 5
segment flowers tend to produce larger/heavier pumpkins than those with 3-4
segments. After learning that, I've since sought out the "5s", but this
year's didn't take, and I was left with a four segment fruit. Well, the thing
has done a lot better than I ever expected, and is currently at 383 OTT
inches. I realize the measurement tables are only estimates, but I can't help
but wonder where it will come in. Should I be expecting it to weigh out much
lighter than the measurements might suggest, due to the 4 segment thing, or
does that not have any bearing on the pumpkin's density?
I guess I'll know for sure in a couple of weeks, but wondered if anyone had
any experience with this.
Thanks,
Dave
