Right now, I am concerned about anyone getting in. When they start
highschool, I'll be concerned about them getting out! I appreciate
everyone's advice. After getting to know some of the boys at school, I have
decided to plant barberry, thistle, holly, clubsfoot, yucca, crown of
thorns, and stinging nettle. My wife reminded me of my antics as a
youngster, so in addition, I will be mortaring broken glass on the window
sills. I am beginning to realize that growing daughters is a hell of a lot
more challenging than growing pumpkins.

Other than the impending financial collapse of the country, bird flu, the
Russians, Iran, and Global Warming, It is going to be just fine! I'll do a
pumpkin dance for you! Didn't grow a Giant this year so I am rooting for all
you guys! A little off subject....but I planted rose bushes under my 2
duaghters bedroom windows this year. Any suggestions from you master
gardeners on something really thorny as a backup?

October is taking forever to get here! And then I have to wait until the
tenth to cut my giant for the weigh off! I am watching all of my field
pumpkin vines wither and now I am seeing some signs of the end on my giant.
I am getting anxious about loading it, I am getting anxious about getting it
safely to the weigh off, I am getting anxious about the fall till and soil
amendments, I am getting anxious about harvesting the seeds! Then I read a
chapter last night about how the Wallaces were 3 days away from the weigh
off and lost two pumpkins to disease! Thanks guys, now I am worked up about
the potential time bomb inside this beauty!
