I'll do it. I suck
panties lately at growing anyway ...LOL. I think Borax is
around 9 on the Ph
scale. I will research more properties of the compounds
involved. By the way,
we need a fugal pathogen involved to truly test the
theory. My wife is going
to move in with her parents after I come up with a
new project.
I wonder if
Borax makes women more "understanding".

Who's going to be the first volunteer to split their prize AG and
then heal
the split with borax? :-) Steve M.

Let us be scientific here. I THINK this works
(hypothesis). Let's test it
further. After that, let's test again.
It would be
rather *&^%*$ funny however, if an old fur trapper trick worked
on stem
rot!!!!

Hey,
Steve, it worked for me, too. Thanks for the advice. Steve M.

We have a pumpkin with a split that formed @ three
weeks ago. We applied
Borax and Captan to the split. We applied a straight
Borax paste every other
day for the last 10 days and have "interesting
results". The fruit is
growing and the stem is "scabbed" and obviously
conducting water. I am not
ready to conclude that the Borax is the direct or
indirect solution to stem
rot. However, I feel that this treatment warrants
further tests.

Observations are observations. I would like to see further
data on this
matter. At this time, Borax has SEEMED to treat stem rot.
