Hey gang. I have 4 weeks until the weigh-off. What should I be doing now?
Cutting back secondaries, fertilizers, spray program?
I pray that I am not jinxing myself, but I guess I should be thinking about
moving the pumpkin. It's taping at approx. 520 lbs. now and has been averaging
10 lbs/day. I hope I can keep that up for a couple more weeks, but the weather
has been cooler. I have a 5' x 5' lifting tarp rated for 500 - 800 lbs from a
couple of years ago. I plan on renting a pickup truck and the rest will most
likely be manual labor. I'll be sending out a plea for help closer to the
weigh-off. Given the shape of the pumpkin, I am not sure if the tarp will be
big enough. I do have a pallet and foam for the pallet already. What else
should I be planning or purchasing? Ideally I would like some kind of forklift,
but that is out of the question.
Debbie
