Ain't it the truth. My personal best grown last year 58 lbs. got lots
of compliments actually from family and friends. This year I'm whining
cause I just lost 348 lber. and my second best is only 331 lbs. at
present and I'm thinking I might not break the state record with that
one.

But I guess if we were all relaxed and satisfied no one would ever grow
them for more than one year and certainly no one would have ever broken
the thousand pound barrier with these things....

Mike and Chris,

I can identify with both of you. My best one split about 3 weeks ago. It
was on track to be way over my personal best. I projected it to be close
to 400 and my personal best is 231 in 1995. Now my two remaining are
almost identical to my best of 1995 and should hopefully just beat 231. I
am happy about that, but can't help being dissapointed about what could
have been.

If we look back though, we can say we've come a long way and that is the
main thing. And of course, there's always next year.

ps. A few days ago, I was looking for comments from anyone on if there is
a relationship between "lumpy" mishapen pumpkins and over-watering or
over-fertilizing or genetics. Is this a sign one might be overdoing it?
