Hi ... It's me again. We've been planning for the big day of moving my 500+ lb pumpkin to the fair & I just want to make sure I don't do something stupid. My husband & I are trying to decide how we're going to get Mr. Pumpkin into the trailer. We've borrowed a trailer with a ramp on it. Now we're discussing the fine points of positioning the pumpkin onto a pallet & pulling the pallet with pumpkin up the ramp onto the trailer. We plan on getting a tarp under Mr. Pumpkin & lifting him onto a pallet. & then slide the pallet with Mr. pumpkin up into the trailer. Of course there will be plently of "cushioning" of the the pumpkin as to not bruise him. The question we pose to ya'll is do we roll the pumpkin "sideways" - slide the tarp under & roll the pumpkin back on to the tarp in the same postion he's been raised in. or.... do we roll the pumpkin onto his blossom end onto the tarp? Hubby says we should roll him onto his blossom end & transport his that way - on him blossom end. I say that the blossom end is weaker & that we should roll him back to the same position he's been in & transport him that way. We're also discussing how we should "strap him in" the trailer so he doesn't roll. We're in the process of rounding up lots of help to assist us on the momentous occasion. You're advice will be greatly appreciated ':-> Thanks Nervious Bev from N.C.
