     I just picked several pumpkins from my first ever "pumpkin patch."  What
I want to know is what do I have to do to get them to last until Halloween?
 The reason I picked them was that is has been raining here an awful lot, and
worms and slugs have gone to work on some of them.  Also, is there anyway
that I can salvage a picked pumpkin that has been worked on a little by some
worms?  They didn't make it all the way through it, but did a pretty good
job.  Would something like captan paste work on it, or does it have to be on
the vine still?  Anyway, any advice would be sincerely appreciated.
