Re: Zehr 1061

George:
I am growing the Zehr 1061 and have not had the same experience as you. I am
in PA and we have not had a good year though. May and June were cold and wet.
July and August were very hot and dry. September is now cold and dry. Bad for
pumpkins. None of the pumpkins in our region will amount to much. I grew the
Zehr1061 along with the Geer 1006 in order to cross them for seed. I grew
these in an area without full sun but where I could give them more attention.
I had difficulty because of the weather setting pumpkins. Some were hand
pollinated and some hand pollinated plus open. My largest pumpkins are now
around 300 to 400 pounds. They are 1006/1061, 1061/1006, 1006/open and
1061/open. I only have those two plants at home. I have had no splitting at
all. However, because of all the conditions they grew under, they are small.
I am now looking forward to next year with these seeds plus several others.
