Dear friends,
I have just returned from the patch with Hubby. He had gone off alone to do
the deed of culling off . Our two biggies had gotten some competition the last 3
weeks by a previously unproductive vine. 2 pumpkins had set directly in the path
we have been using to reach the serious contenders. Sunday, Hubby realised that
one of them had passed the babies we were keeping our eye on, so now would be a
good time to cull the last as it must surely be draining this up and coming
monster. When he tried to haul the culled fruit from the patch,he needed
assistance(we had to lift the culled fruit over productive vines and hubby has a
bad back). This thing was the size of a basketball 3 weeks ago, today it weighed
on our scale at 212# . One things for sure with AG's, "It aint over till
it's over!!" I know we don't have THE big one this year, but it sure is
interesting.
