Re: Help! My pumpkin stopped growing!

In a message dated 98-09-04 10:42:05 EDT, you write:

<< ecked everything near the stem and underneath (we lifted it a bit and put
some straw underneath, but didn't notice any cracks or other problems. WHY
DIDIT STOP GROWING?! This happened the day after I culled the 32 pounder from
the same plant, so I would expect that would have given the bigger one a
boost, not make it stop! I am totally confused. Any ideas on what is going
on?
The plant is really healthy, too. The main vines are buried, (not just
buried,
but buried in double-dug, specially prepared soil with organic slow release
fertilizer, composted cow and chicken manure, etc.)! It get perfect water and
low dose Miracle Grow boosters, as well as foliar Miracle Grow and seaweed,
alternated. Also treated with copper fungicide, and dusted with Rotanone and
Sevin when needed, and all wounds (from prunings, cullings, and vine splits,
etc.) treated with Captan paste. Also when temperatures are below 75, covered
with floating row cover, etc. I think I have the basics covered culturally,
so
I can't figure out what the problem could be. >>

You have done SO MUCH more to your pretty pumpkin than I have done for mine.
I'm impressed. I really do not know what to do, except..WATER, WATER !!! :-)
